Child seats are an essential part of keeping babies and toddlers safe whilst driving. This is because they help to avoid head, neck and spine injuries that might occur in the event of a crash.
However, it is important to make sure that you install your child seat correctly if you want them to be as safe as possible. The easiest way to do this is to choose a seat that can be installed using ISOFIX, which is an international standard for child seat fittings in cars.
The system consists of two metal hooks located in the folds of the seats on the second row of passenger seats. These are linked to the corresponding ISOFIX 'fingers' on your child seat, so that you can simply connect the bottom of the seat to the car without using a seat belt.
Isofix Installation
The anchorages for an ISOfix seat are usually hidden away quite far down or between the seat cushions, so it can be tricky to find them if you don't have good visibility. The BeSafe range of child seats feature a locking mechanism that makes it easier to reach these points and get the seat attached.
Aside from being quicker and easier to fit than old style seat-belt secured seats, they are also much safer if fitted correctly. This is because they lock into place and don't allow for a lot of sliding around in a collision - something that could leave children unprotected.
